NPH is thrilled to announce our new hires, promotions, and two open positions! 

Meet Ja’Nai and Yesenia! 

  • Ja'Nai Aubrey, Senior Policy Manager Ja’Nai will be leading NPH’s regional policy advocacy for affordable housing. Ja’Nai’s background includes serving as the Director of Continuum of Care Strategies at EveryOne Home and the Housing and Gender Justice Staff Attorney at Family Violence Law Center (FVLC). She has worked at various legal aid agencies to provide direct legal services to gender-based violence survivors and low/ extremely low-income tenants. Read more about Ja’Nai
     
  • Yesenia Jameson, Content Manager Yesenia will focus on writing motivating and persuasive content to advance NPH's vision for housing and racial justice in the Bay Area. Prior to joining NPH, she worked in communications capacities at Housing California and the California Budget & Policy Center, focusing on social media campaigns, writing and editing, video editing, website maintenance, and email marketing programs.   • Policy Director The Policy Director is a senior level management position responsible for formulating and leading NPH’s state policy strategy and implementation informed by member policy priorities, as well as supervising regional and special policy initiatives. Details and Apply
     
  • Narrative Specialist The Narrative Specialist will be responsible for implementing narrative strategy to advance housing and racial justice in the Bay Area. This person will play a key role in supporting Shift the Bay,” a collaborative that seeks to deliver tactics and messages that will help our movement drive new narratives around affordable housing. Details and Apply
 

State Legislature in Recess; Hear From the White House

The California Legislature's Summer Recess is still in session, and NPH's Legislative Issues committee will also be taking a summer recess. The August 5 Legislative Issues Meeting is cancelled. We'll let you know when our Legislative Issues Meeting is back; in the meantime, join the working group today!

On the Federal Front: Build Back Better Briefing, Thursday, 8/5 9:30-10:00 AM PT
The White House Office of Public Engagement is hosting a webinar, with opening remarks by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, on the topic of President Biden's Build Back Better Plan and its impact on families in California.

There are less than 40 days left to register for the third cohort of the Community Advocacy & Voter Engagement (CAVE) Professional Certification Program, beginning on September 9! The CAVE Certification program is a professional development opportunity catered to resident services staff to learn about affordable housing advocacy and policy and become an advocate in their community.

Join the Emerging Leaders Peer Network (ELPN) for their 2021 Mid Year Party: Cocktail Shake Up! You bring the ingredients, and they’ll show you how to make two signature prohibition-era inspired cocktails and/or mocktails!
