John,
Congresswoman Cori Bush is an organizer.
When the White House and Congress did nothing as the CDC's eviction moratorium expired at midnight on Saturday, Cori's personal experience with housing insecurity led her to sleep outside of the Capitol and stay there day and night for the 11 million Americans at risk of being forced out of their homes.
Then, some friends showed up too:
Last night, the White House announced that the CDC will temporarily extend the eviction moratorium for renters in communities with surging COVID cases, covering 90% of renters throughout the country.
What we've seen over the last few days is the power of electing working-class candidates and organizers like Cori Bush to office — leaders with personal experiences of the urgent issues facing the American people. When you contribute $3 to the Working Families Party, you are helping us elect the next Cori Bush, Jamaal Bowman, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez — organizers and leaders who will ensure that basic human rights and dignity are never ignored.

Yesterday's announcement by the CDC would never have happened without the bold leadership of both Cori Bush and the housing activists and advocates fighting relentlessly for justice. While most House Democrats went on vacation — some to their second homes — Cori, and those inspired to stand with her, fought for Americans at risk of losing their only home.
But the housing crisis started long before the pandemic — and the extension of the eviction moratorium is only temporary.
With only 12% of the $25 billion in federal rental assistance getting into the hands of those that most need it, now is the time to fight for the aid our communities need and affirm housing as a human right. That means supporting champions like Cori Bush when they take courageous stands for housing justice, and electing more leaders who are accountable to working families and not the real estate lobby.
Your $3 contribution will help WFP elect more leaders who won’t stop fighting for working people in Congress.
Evictions are, and always will be, a policy failure.
In solidarity,
