Hello --
I have to bring some incredibly terrifying information to your attention. The Iowa State Fair has been a staple of our community for generations. It’s important to me, my family and nearly every member of our state.
Recently, I learned that the fair allowed gun vendors to come and show their stock, and among them were people selling extremely violent weapons and messages of hatred.
We’re talking bomb-making materials, armor-piercing ammunition and smoke devices designed to look like Zyklon B canisters, which were used by Nazis during the Holocaust to murder Jews.
These weapons and their purpose were emphasized when appearing alongside Nazi and white supremacist propaganda, including flags and images.
Don’t believe me? See for yourself.
Join my campaign and demand that the State Fair Board implement rules preventing this kind of hate from appearing at facilities paid for with our dime.
This is appalling and contradicts the values of our nation. We cannot allow this to continue. The men and women of our armed forces did not fight against this kind of hate just to have it advertised at our publicly funded, family-friendly community events.
These vile and dangerous devices of hate have no place around our children and neighbors. Iowans say no to hate and violence.
Join us by signing our petition to demand action from the State Fairgrounds to say no to hate.
Thank you,
Eddie Mauro
