John,
Our democracy is broken. But how do we fix it? The truth is, no one piece of legislation or single reform will do the trick.
For example, we need to reduce big money’s influence on policymaking in Washington, improve voters' choices, end partisan gerrymandering, and modernize Congress. But none of these major reforms alone would fix all that is needed to renew and restore our democracy.
In his new op-ed, Issue One’s Founder and CEO Nick Penniman lays out why there isn’t a silver bullet when it comes to fixing our broken political system — we need to fight for a range of reforms at the local, state, and federal levels.
That’s why Issue One is organizing on multiple fronts to secure our elections against foreign adversaries, repair the broken Federal Election Commission, and get big money out of politics.
Along with a smart strategy and a robust agenda of reforms, Nick’s piece is also a call to action. He argues that we must all come together to bring about real change. We need philanthropists and dedicated citizens, like you, to join hands with advocacy groups, like Issue One, to make democracy reform a reality.
Read Nick’s op-ed today to learn why we need more than a silver bullet to return government to the American people.
