The historic proposed $400 billion for HCBS means that more people can access the care they need, when and where they need it. And now is the most important time to contact our Senators to let them know that caregiving is vital as our economy rebuilds.

Dear John,

The Senate announced a bipartisan infrastructure deal late on Sunday. But what does that actually mean for caregivers?

Don’t worry — we already knew that care infrastructure wouldn’t be included in this deal. It will be part of the bigger plan the Senate takes up in the next few weeks. And President Biden said that he wouldn’t sign plan one without the other.

Keep the pressure for Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) on your Senators today, so that they keep the full $400 billion in their upcoming reconciliation bill.

The bipartisan deal is a step forward for the plan to invest in our caregiving infrastructure.

Increased funding for Medicaid HCBS means that states will finally be able to clear the waitlists of millions of people who are unable to get the care they need. We’ve heard from families across the country who have been waiting longer than a decade — a decade!! — to access affordable home care.

The historic proposed $400 billion for HCBS means that more people can access the care they need, when and where they need it. And now is the most important time to contact our Senators to let them know that caregiving is vital as our economy rebuilds.

More people with disabilities and older adults will be able to live and age in their homes and communities with dignity. More family caregivers will have the support they need, and care workers will have benefits and good wages. We can’t wait anymore.

Congress can fulfill President Biden’s promise to pass the reconciliation bill to fund our care infrastructure, and they need to go big to meet the challenge that we face right now. The Senate must make a meaningful investment in Home and Community-Based Care.
