133 million people almost lost their health care coverage during a pandemic, thanks to GOP AGs.
Friend, I could talk for hours about the ins-and-outs of health care politics, but I’ll keep this brief:
Everyone needs to know that Republican Attorneys General doubled down on their efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act (ACA, or “Obamacare”) during a global pandemic.
While tens of millions of people struggled under rising COVID numbers, medical bills, unemployment, and illness, Republican AGs went to the Supreme Court and said, ‘Now, let’s take away their health care.’
In response, Democratic Attorneys General intervened and argued before the Supreme Court to preserve our access to health care and won – ultimately saving countless lives and financial records across the country.
133 million people nationwide, who have pre-existing medical conditions
31 million people who receive health coverage through the ACA, including nearly 15 million who qualify for Medicaid expansion
800,000 people with opioid use disorder
Friend, we were on the brink of an unfathomable amount of harm, thanks to a coalition of GOP AGs who tried to dismantle affordable health care during our worst public health crisis in decades.
This wasn’t the first legal attack on the ACA, and there’s sure to be more so long as we have radical right-wingers in office. That’s why we need unyielding, passionate Dem AGs who know that health care is a human right – and will go toe-to-toe with extremists to protect us.
