John: On Saturday night, Kevin McCarthy made a “joke” at a GOP fundraiser that if the GOP managed to flip the House red in 2022, “it will be hard not to hit” Nancy Pelosi with the Speaker’s gavel. Well Kevin, we shouldn’t have to be the ones to tell you this … but jokes about violence against women are never funny. As a spokesperson and figurehead for the GOP, Kevin should know that his words carry weight among Republican supporters. That’s why I’m calling on Kevin McCarthy to apologize now or resign. After one of the most violent political uprisings in our nation’s recent history — one where Speaker Pelosi was specifically targeted during the attack on the Capitol — this kind of behavior is especially unacceptable. It’s reckless and violent language like this that led to the January 6 insurrection, John. Behavior like this can’t continue in politics, and I’ll fight tooth and nail to hold Kevin and the rest of the GOP responsible for their inflammatory rhetoric.
