As the Senate prepares to vote on the bipartisan infrastructure package this week, all eyes now turn to the budget being crafted by Senate Budget Committee Chair Bernie Sanders.

Through budget reconciliation rules, the budget can pass with a simple majority vote, meaning we won’t need to overcome a filibuster by Mitch McConnell and his conservative allies. But now, some moderate Democrats are indicating that they’re not yet sold on the size and scope of the tax and investment package being proposed.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema from Arizona has said she won't support legislation with a $3.5 trillion budget, which makes long-overdue investments in people, families and communities. What’s Mitch McConnell's reaction? “I was certainly pleased,” McConnell told the Fox Business Network.¹

With razor thin voting margins in the Senate, we’re letting senators know that the American people overwhelmingly support President Biden’s Build Back Better plan―and that we can afford it when the rich and corporations start paying their fair share.

These critical investments must be paid for by finally making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.

This is a fight we can win, but we’re still short of the 50 votes needed in the Senate.
