Hi John,
Last night we watched the Democratic Debate, eagerly waiting for candidates to discuss issues that reflect a commitment to inclusive politics, but by the end of it, we were underwhelmed. Too few of the issues our communities care about were discussed. There was only one question about reproductive rights, and no substantive questions about the climate crisis we're in. Now more than ever, we need a framework of inclusive politics on the national stage.
To us, that means candidates debating policies and plans that reflect an expansive understanding of justice and meet the needs of historically marginalized communities: communities of color, especially women of color, the working class, queer and trans folks. We’re looking for candidates listening to movements of Black Lives Matter, Me Too, and Abolish ICE -- and speaking to the needs of women who make up more than half the population of this country.
What issues do you want to see at the forefront in the next #DemDebate? Take 3 min to complete our short questionnaire and tell us: What does inclusive politics mean to you? [[link removed]]
We're excited to hear from you!
