Stop the Left from Silencing Faith in the Public Square

Dear John,

It's no secret that Big Media and Big Tech companies have pushed away truth and regularly peddle various versions of leftism, as I shared with you last week.

When we dare to apply the Bible to current events, these powerful companies now routinely shut it down. Those who broadcast truth like Family Research Council are under constant threat of censorship today.

Yet we learned during the recent pandemic that we could move quickly, make improvements, and have significant impact through targeted broadcasts.

FRC is positioned to take on new challenges and become the leading faith-based voice for biblical values in public policy through our own television platform and expanding our presence through multimedia broadcasts.

A new broadcast studio currently in an early phase of construction is an important part of this strategy. It will enable FRC to increase the reach of our flagship program Washington Watch, inform Americans on what's really happening, and inspire them to take a stand.

Will you join us and support the vision to expand FRC's new media broadcasting capabilities in multiple ways?

Imagine if, eight years ago, FRC had not decided to invest in a daily, nationwide radio program. With current levels of censorship, we would be extremely limited in our reach and effectiveness.

By God's grace, today our daily news program airs on nearly 800 radio outlets ... and, as of this year, via emerging networks HisChannel and Liftable TV. More are on the horizon.

John, you might wonder, "Is the threat of censorship growing so severe that we have to create alternative channels?"

We don't have to look far to see how bad it could get. Recently, the European nation of Finland criminally charged one of its elected legislators--because she tweeted a Bible verse!

A mother of five and longtime medical doctor, Paavi Rasanen has been a public servant for over 25 years since being elected to her local city council.

In June 2019, denominational leaders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, of which she is a part, announced their partnership with an LGBT Pride event.

Rasanen publicly responded, tweeting a message that questioned this decision. It included an image of a Bible opened to Romans 1:24-27 (ESV). Verse 25 reads in part: "...they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator..."

Authorities in Finland soon opened an investigation. They grilled the Member of Parliament for four hours at a police station.

This spring, following an 18-month government investigation, the Finnish Prosecutor General brought three criminal charges related to "hate speech" against Rasanen.

She now faces a potential sentence of six years in prison--all for merely speaking out on marriage and sexuality using the Bible as her guide.

Is this a preview of our future here in America? It could be if some leftist groups get their way.

That's why we at FRC need your support in this hour: to speak truth boldly. Please join us!

Leftist groups like Planned Parenthood, the Human Rights Campaign, and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) are zealous to mute the truth.

The SPLC even labels FRC as a "hate group" for upholding biblical perspectives on marriage and sexuality.

It's tempting to be discouraged by the media's obvious hypocrisy.

But that's exactly the wrong takeaway, and here's why: God isn't surprised or alarmed. There have always been people who seek to silence the truth because they want to live by their own standards.

Paul wrote: "The time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths" (2 Timothy 4:3-4, ESV).

Believers cannot trust today's media to communicate truth from a biblical worldview.

To influence our culture, we must reach and disciple emerging generations in a biblical worldview. FRC's strategies and resources are designed to do exactly that.

We couldn't do it without your faithful partnership and prayers. Thank you in advance for your stand with us.
