Throughout the Summer there’s lots of events and groups to get involved with across the Clifton area. From Jumpers 4 Goalposts in Clifton on 4 August to the Nottingham Moderns Rugby Club Family Fun Day in September.
Elsewhere in the Clifton West Good Companions have restarted their weekly friendship group at Parkgate Community Centre every Friday. Why not join them from 11am-1pm, and have lunch afterwards at the Community Kitchen?
There will also be a wide range of activities for children, sponsored by the Holiday Activities Fund, throughout the summer holiday period. For further details follow My Clifton West on Facebook.
Residents in Wilford Village will have noted that the L1 service was drastically curtailed in June 2021 to offer just 2 Buses (now called No.2) a week, (Monday & Thursday) with only 2 journeys into town each of these days, and returns.
But the good news is that 2 extra buses, on an hourly basis, now serving West Bridgford shops, and all supermarkets through to Morrisons at Gamston, via Silverdale & Clifton, on circular routes.
See the timetables and plan your journey here
Additionally, there is a school bus running between Silverdale & Wilford Village, serving South Wilford & St. Patricks Primary schools, during school term time - No.22 in the morning and No.23 in the afternoon.
Cllr Steel is assured that current timing can be adjusted to reflect staggered pick up / drop off times as at present, or revised times should things change following the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions . There is further flexibility should parents wish to accompany children, and return to/from the departure points at Silverdale or Wilford. Get in touch with Councillor Steel with requirements.
Your local Clifton West Councillors Roger Steel and Andrew Rule have provided funds from their annual allowances to, once again, sponsor a large floral display in Wilford Village, much appreciated by local residents and visitors alike.
The Councillors are thankful to Wilford Allotment Association for planting up the large street planters, with themed plants provided by Nottingham City Council's Woodthorpe Grange Plant Shop.
Cllr Steel is also very grateful for those local residents who have assisted him in maintenance and watering of the planters, tubs and hanging basket displays. And, especially grateful to those who allow the use of their own water taps!
So what's on the cards for 2022? It’s a special Royal Celebration, and an extra Bank Holiday! A Red, White & Blue themed floral display may be just be on the cards!
Regular litter picking groups continue to make a fantastic contribution to keeping Clifton West Clean.
In April, a fantastic effort was made across Clifton, Wilford and Silverdale with 22 bags collected along the A453.
Speaking after the event, Cllr Rule praised the fantastic work undertaken by NG11 Clean Champions and highlighted the opportunity for closer working between the Clean Champions and council teams.
He also called on Highways England to make more of an effort to clean up materials and signage abandoned in the A453 verges by Highways England after the completion of periodic maintenance work.
Why not join the Clean Champions and get some fresh air and exercise and meet your local community
