[1]Cori Bush

Hi John,

Over the weekend, Cori organized a powerful mobilization in D.C. to demand
an extension of the eviction moratorium.

Cori, community members, activists, and her sisters-in-service in the
Squad, Ayanna Pressley and Ilhan Omar, slept outside the Capitol to urge
Congress to address the unhoused crisis in our country.

On Saturday night, as the eviction moratorium expired, we stood on the
steps of the Capitol in a moment of silence for all the people who are
unhoused whose lives have been taken because of policy violence.

On Friday, many of Cori’s Democratic colleagues left town to go on
vacation instead of staying to extend the moratorium. We are deeply
disappointed: Our team has heard that there have already been thousands of
evictions already.

People are being forcibly removed from their homes RIGHT NOW. There are
potentially millions more to come.

Congress has an obligation to save lives, and after spending the weekend
at Cori’s side — I know that she will not back down in this fight until
unhoused families are protected during this pandemic.

[ [link removed] ]We need to reinstate the eviction moratorium to put an end to this
eviction emergency. Will you chip in $5 or anything you can
right now to support our organizing work as we crank up the pressure for
urgent action?

[ [link removed] ]Chip in $5

This fight is personal for Cori. Before she came to Congress, there was a
period in her life where she was unhoused and living in a car with her two
babies.

Cori understands first-hand the struggles unhoused families go through and
that’s why she refuses to rest until Congress, the CDC, or the White House
acts to address the unhoused crisis in our country.

Our Democratic-controlled government has the power to stop this crisis.
But it’s clear after this weekend it’s going to take a powerful show of
grassroots pressure to make sure Congress uses their power to protect
unhoused families.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why I’m asking you today to please chip in $5 or
anything you can to help power our organizing work so we can stop the wave
of evictions happening right now, especially as Delta cases rise across
the country.

Let’s do this,

Jack B.
