The Democratic party could be putting the pressure on Republicans and conservative Democrats to pass legislation to stop the looming homelessness crisis. Instead, they’re pointing their dark-money donors into super PACs designed to stop Nina Turner from winning the special election in OH-11 tomorrow. Why? Because they see what Rep. Cori Bush started on Capitol Hill and it’s given them nowhere to hide. As a young mother, Cori was evicted and forced to live out of her car with two small babies. Growing up in a large, working class family, Nina knows what it’s like to survive on low incomes and housing insecurity herself. The establishment is terrified of the moral clarity being exhibited by Cori and other progressive fighters. They know that when Nina Turner gets to Congress, she’ll be on the front lines with them to deliver solutions for working people and families. Imagine having Nina and even more progressive leaders calling the shots in Washington D.C. -- working people will FINALLY be a priority. Right now in the wealthiest nation in the world, millions of people are at risk of losing their homes and being kicked out on the streets right as the latest wave of the COVID pandemic starts to hit. As long as we keep electing out of touch representatives that collect campaign cash from real estate developers and apartment associations, we will never achieve BOLD solutions designed to combat this housing crisis both now, and in the foreseeable future. That’s why we need all hands on deck to keep this movement alive, and it starts in Ohio. Adrienne Bell
