Hi,

With the stroke of a pen, President Biden could extend the eviction
moratorium and prevent a national housing crisis. [ [link removed] ]Sign the petition:
Prevent mass homelessness and restore the eviction moratorium!

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, emergency
orders have prevented millions of Americans from being evicted for being
unable to pay rent. But the clock ran out on July 31st and millions of
people are at risk of losing their homes.^1

Congress could have passed an extension, but they didn’t. Now it’s up to
President Biden to extend the eviction moratorium and prevent a national
housing crisis just as the Delta variant is driving an increase of Covid
cases. There's literally no time to lose.

Progressives in Congress, led by Rep. Cori Bush and Sen. Elizabeth Warren,
spent the weekend working as hard as they could trying to convince
President Biden and Democratic leaders to act to restore the moratorium.

Rep. Bush slept outside the Capitol in a protest at the failure to act.
Sen. Warren stood with her to urge immediate action. But Congress has
already left for summer recess, so now President Biden is the only one who
can extend the moratorium.^2

Now millions of families could be thrown out of their homes starting this
week, in the middle of a new wave of the coronavirus. It's a humanitarian
catastrophe that President Biden can easily stop right now -- with the
stroke of a pen.
