Recently, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called on the Department of Justice to investigate the National Rifle Association for fraud amid its bankruptcy filing—dealing another blow to the beleaguered group.

The NRA’s bogus bankruptcy claim made it crystal clear that they abandoned their original mission as a sportsman and firearm safety organization long ago. They have cheated American taxpayers in pursuit of their extreme agenda. We can’t let them get away with it.

The NRA is hoping their bad faith bankruptcy claim will allow them to avoid legal and financial responsibility for years of fraud and mismanagement. But, as Senator Schumer said, they shot themselves in the foot. Because the truth is, the NRA is still spending millions of dollars to advance extreme policies like permitless carry and to block any and all responsible gun measures.

No organization is above the law. The NRA’s bankruptcy trial uncovered a staggering number of incriminating details that painted a shocking picture of the fraud and mismanagement rampant in the organization. The NRA deserves to be investigated to the fullest extent of the law.

Please, urge your members of Congress to stand with Senator Schumer and demand the Department of Justice investigate the NRA.
