Hi John,
When I ran for mayor of Salt Lake City in 2019, I ran on a bold air quality platform. This is an issue deeply personal to me. Like many of you, I wake up far too often not knowing if it’s going to be safe for my daughter to spend time outside, playing with her sister or cousins. It’s not fair. This is why I founded O2 Utah.
Our mission is to clean Utah’s air, protect our public lands, and eliminate our contributions to climate change by developing visionary policy and getting involved in elections.
When we call on leaders to address our concerns, we’re lucky to even receive an empty promise, let alone a response at all. Let me be very clear: our bad air is a conscious choice made by our elected leaders. I am tired of politicians refusing to take action on addressing poor air quality, and I know you are too.
I hope you’ll join us as we set off on this journey to draft bold policy and hold our representatives accountable. Make a donation. Sign up to volunteer. Follow us on social media. Share your personal story with us. There is no action too big or small that can’t make a difference.
Studies show simply living in Utah and breathing our air takes two years of our lives. I’m fighting like hell to ensure my daughters get those two years back. Please join us today so all of us get our two years back.
Best,
David Garbett
Executive Director, O2 Utah
