Hey,
On this day in 1995, an estimated 1.1 million Black men marched on Washington. Deemed the Million Man March -- it was first organized to promote Black unity in the fight for economic and social justice.
We’re still fighting, team, and we’ve come a long way since that day in 1995. Now, over twenty years later, two Black leaders just took the stage in last night’s debate in the race for the highest level of office in America.
If we’re going to build the next Black wave in 2020, we can never forget those who came before us and used their collective power to fight for change. And we must do everything in our power to ensure the next generation of Black leaders have the resources they need to continue the work of building Black political power.
Addressing the underrepresentation of Black Americans in our government is how we will heal our democracy. On the anniversary of the Million Man March, help us elect the next generation of leaders like Senators Cory Booker and Kamala Harris by pitching in whatever you can today.
Look, we are smack in the middle of history in the making. What we do now matters and will shape our democracy for years to come.
We can’t just defeat Donald Trump in 2020, we have to fight for a future where we have political equity, Black voices are heard, and Black communities are seen.
Leaders like Cory and Kamala are just the tip of the iceberg of the unbelievably dedicated and resourceful Black candidates running for office in 2020.
So let’s get them elected. If you’re with us in the work to build the next Black wave and make history again in 2020, please rush a donation this anniversary.
Thank you,
The Collective Team
