Hi John,
As temperatures continue to rise in Maricopa County, so does the need for heat relief resources for our unsheltered neighbors in need.
In collaboration with Women United, Valley of the Sun United Way is hosting the Maricopa County Bottled Water Drive, a month-long effort to support our nonprofit partners and the individuals and families they serve.
Throughout August, we’re inviting our community to help us collect 200,000 bottles of water. Your contribution will help keep individuals hydrated during the blistering summer heat by supporting the needs of our nonprofit partners, including community champions such as UMOM New Day Centers, who distribute up to three pallets (5,760 bottles) of water each week.
“UMOM is committed to providing the needed water during our hot summer months to anyone in need, being open to the public as a location to pick up a bottle of water. Because of this overwhelming need in the community, water donations are essential to our ongoing needs as we go through 2-3 full pallets of water a week. Valley of the Sun United Way’s contribution to our water needs helps us support our community.”
- AAron Iverson, Distribution & Donations Manager | UMOM New Day Centers
Giving back to your community has never been easier. You can drop a case of water at a partner location or save the drive and make a monetary donation. We’ll do the shopping for you!
Our bold goal of collecting 200,000 bottles of water directly aligns with MC2026, Valley of the Sun United Way’s new five-year strategy for creating Mighty Change in Maricopa County in the areas of Health, Homelessness and Housing, Education and Workforce Development. With your support, we’ll provide much-needed relief to vulnerable individuals in need.
