MICHIGAN COALITION FOR RESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS "Promoting safe use and ownership of firearms through education, litigation, and legislation." MONDAY E'NEWS MCRGO Board Election 2021 MCRGO's 11 member Board of Directors is elected in odd years for staggered four year terms. Six members of the board were elected in 2019. Five members of the board will be elected this year. Per the MCRGO By-Laws, one seat representing each region is on the ballot this year. Seats are geographically divided to ensure one region of the state does not dominate the organization. However, elected board members represent all of MCRGO's membership. Current MCRGO member may vote for candidates in any and all regions, not just the region in which they live. We encourage members to vote through electronic ballot as it is anonymous, fast, free of postage costs, and automatically tabulated. Paper ballots are confidential but not anonymous due to the need to cross reference member numbers. Voting both electronically and by paper ballot will invalidate both ballots cast. If you already cast a paper ballot from the Summer 2021 On Target newsletter, do not attempt to vote electronically. Candidates elected in 2021 will serve a four-year term expiring in 2025. The candidates elected shall be those who have received the highest number of votes in each region. Listed candidates applied through an application in the Spring 2021 On Target newsletter. Applications were due by July 1, 2021. Electors may write in the names of current MCRGO members not listed on the ballot. Successful write-in candidates must meet the By-Laws requirements for a Director and must accept the position before their election can be confirmed. Electronic voting ends at midnight on September 1, 2021. Election results will be published to the MCRGO Coffee Table Facebook group on September 1, published in the September 6 Monday E'News, and in the Fall 2021 On Target newsletter. Electronic ballots were emailed at midnight yesterday to all current MCRGO members with emails on file. Current members without emails on file have been sent a paper ballot as part of the Summer 2021 On Target newsletter. If you did not receive an electronic ballot, first confirm you are a current MCRGO member by logging in HERE. Note that receiving this Monday E'News does not mean you are a current member of MCRGO. Next, check your Spam/Junk/Trash folders of your email address on file with MCRGO. Finally, email Brady at [email protected] for member verification and to be sent a replacement electronic ballot. We will not mail out replacement paper ballots for reasons of election security. Members with emails through Comcast, Hotmail, Yahoo, and private domains through Go Daddy may not have received an electronic ballot as those email services are often indiscriminate about auto-deleting computer generated emails. MCRGO Candidate Forum 2021 Join us for the first ever digital MCRGO Board Candidate Forum. The candidates will meet through a Zoom video conference that will be broadcast by Facebook Live to MCRGO Coffee Table. The video will also be viewable at MCRGO Coffee Table after the event. The first 20 minutes will be focused on the contested South-West seat, the second 20 minutes will be focused on the contested South-Central seat, and the remaining 20 minutes will be focused on the other three uncontested seats. Members may submit questions for candidates in advance. The questions need to be policy related (firearms/self-defense) or organizationally related and not personal or personalized to any particular candidate. You can submit questions by emailing [email protected] by 5 PM today, August 2. You may submit multiple questions. The moderator will pick 5 unique questions for each 20 minute segment allowing each candidate up to 2 minutes to respond to each question. Candidates will not be provided the questions in advance. Candidates will swap the order in which they answer questions. All participants will be muted other than the candidate speaking and the moderator. MCRGO Coffee Table is a private Facebook group open to current members of MCRGO. You can join the group HERE. Facebook will ask your MCRGO membership number upon joining. It may take several hours for the application to join to be approved.
