AUGUST NEWSLETTER
------------------------------------------------------------

Hi, John.

Welcome to the month of August! In this MCYD newsletter, you'll find an update on our most recent meetings and events, a few upcoming events, and our Young Dem Spotlight of the Month.

MCYD Update

More than 15 young democrats joined us for our happy hour this June, our first in-person event in over a year! Thank you to those of you who joined, and we're looking forward to seeing you again at future events!

Since our last newsletter, we've held the first two meetings in our Summer Candidate Series, where we're giving Morris County's young democrats a chance to meet their candidates running for state and county offices.

In June, former Wharton Councilwoman and current LD25 Assembly candidate Patricia Veres joined us to talk about how she and her running mates will represent us. Learn more about them
here ([link removed]) .

For our July meeting, we were joined by all three of our LD26 candidates, Christine Clarke ([link removed]) for Senate and Melissa Brown Blaeuer and Pamela Fadden ([link removed]) for Assembly. These candidates are running on a platform of fighting climate change, making education more affordable and increasing voting access. Check out our recording of their remarks here ([link removed]) .

Upcoming Events

The next MCYD meeting will take place on Tuesday, August 17 at 7pm ET.
Please stay tuned for the Zoom link and additional details about our special guests.

Young Dem Spotlight

This month, we’d like to spotlight Young Dem and Morris Township Deputy Mayor Mark Gyorfy. Mark was born and raised in Morris Township and was first elected to the Township Committee in 2018 at age 26. He studied government and counterterrorism at the University of Maryland and worked for U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (NJ-8), advising the Congressman on homeland security, veterans’ affairs, and financial services policy. Mark has also served as a Morris Township volunteer firefighter for over a decade.

Mark is running for re-election to the Morris Township Committee this year, alongside Tara Olivo-Moore.
