John:

By now, you have probably heard about the brave Texas lawmakers who fled the state and flew to Washington in order to block two new voter suppression bills making their way through the state legislature.

They’re parents—many of whom left their children behind in Texas—grandparents, lawyers and small business owners. They may face arrest when they return to Texas, but are undaunted.

And here’s what I promised them: You’re not alone in this fight.

It’s on us—lawmakers in Washington and people across the country—to stand with Texans as they put it all on the line to fight voter suppression and protect our democracy.

So today, here’s my ask: Will you split a donation with the Texas House Democratic Campaign Committee to help power their fight for democracy?

Remember, this isn’t some symbolic show of support. This is about standing by the lawmakers who are risking arrest to fight voter suppression and protect our right to vote.

And the stakes here are sky-high: If Texas House Democrats don’t succeed in blocking this bill, the GOP is going to outlaw 24-hour polling places, eliminate ballot drop boxes, and allow partisan “poll watchers” to intimidate voters.

We cannot let them. We have to fight back.

Because Republicans don’t care about protecting the “integrity” of our elections. They have offered zero evidence of widespread voter fraud. They are using Donald Trump’s “Big Lie” that the election was stolen as an excuse to suppress the vote.

Please, rush a donation to support the brave Texas House Democrats who are bravely defending our right to vote. I want to show the incredible lawmakers I just met—and people across the country—that this team has their back.

Thank you for standing with them. It means so much to me.

-Kirsten
