Hi friends,
This is a long email explaining the human impact of Judge Hanen’s decision to partially block the DACA program. But before I explain more, will you consider chipping in $10 or any amount before our July deadline at midnight?
Like many in our community, Michelle — one of United We Dream’s organizers in the DMV region — has been forced to be resilient ever since the inception of the DACA program.
She stood on the steps of the Capitol in anticipation of a Supreme Court decision on the future of DACA. She protested against attacks on undocumented youth. And she organized to protect DACA and secure a pathway to citizenship.
But after the recent decision out of Texas to partially block the DACA program, everything has come to a halt. Michelle, who was pursuing jobs and a medical license to become a nurse, now has to wait — along with hundreds of thousands of other Dreamers — with her DACA application left hanging in the balance.
As we plot our path forward, Michelle herself said it best: “This must be about a pathway to citizenship, not just fixing DACA.”
We aren’t begging — we’re demanding. Because we deserve permanent solutions, and it’s time Democrats in Washington deliver for our community and protect us from attacks like this by securing a pathway to citizenship.
Our July end-of-month deadline is tonight, and we need to bring in another $6,000 before midnight to keep our advocacy efforts fully funded amidst this critical moment for our movement. Will you rush a donation today to help keep us in the fight for Dreamers and all undocumented people?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you for all you do to lift up our community.
— Luz, United We Dream Action
