"Income inequality in America is the highest it's been since Census Bureau started tracking it, data shows," - Washington Post
"American Billionaires paid less in taxes in 2018 than the working class, analysis shows -- and it's another sign that one of the biggest problems in the US is only getting worse" - Business Insider
"The rich really do pay lower taxes thank you" - The New York Times
When will the greed end, John?
Taxes on working and middle-class Americans are the highest they've ever been.
The richest one percent of American households own more wealth than the bottom 90% combined.
And still, Susan Collins votes in favor of tax cuts for the rich while refusing to support policies that benefit the rest of us.
This administration lies to our faces while picking our pockets and handing fat tax cuts to Wall Street gamblers and corporate CEOs.
"President Trump's 2017 tax cut, which was largely a handout to the rich, plays a role, too. It helped push the tax rate on the 400 wealthiest households below the rates for almost everyone else." - The New York Times
Susan Collins and the GOP (and far too many Democrats) keep telling us that our ideas are too bold, that our country can't afford Medicare For All, or paid family leave, or even a livable wage.
They're lying. The truth is they can't afford to support real change - because their wealthy donors don't want them to.
Building the progressive future that our children and grandchildren deserve isn't a question of money. It's as simple as electing a Senate that works for working families instead of corporate interests trying to rig the system to their advantage.
That's why we're not taking a single corporate donation, federal lobbyist or any dirty PAC money to fund this campaign. Our movement is fueled by grassroots supporters like you, who are fed up with establishment insiders who listen to lobbyists and special interests, not working families.
I've spent my entire life fighting - and winning - for working folks. My mother was a school teacher while raising five children. My father managed a restaurant. My grandparents pulled lobster traps to make ends meets - something I also spent my summers doing. Since launching my campaign in June, I've continued to work my day job as a mediator while running for office. Because I'm not in it for the money.
This is a grassroots campaign, John, and I will need help. Will you join me?

We're thousands strong, John, and growing every day. And together, we're going to take back our democracy.
In unity,
Betsy
