Every day, it feels as if we’re facing a crisis. And that didn’t end when Donald Trump finally left office.
Americans across the country are enduring the direct consequences of climate change. Sweltering heat waves and scorching temperatures are causing needless deaths and sparking uncontrollable wildfires.
The GOP is pushing a disgraceful, coordinated national strategy of Jim Crow-esque voter suppression laws. Rather than trying to win new voters, Republican state legislatures are silencing people’s voices, restricting ballot access, and disproportionately disenfranchising people of color.
Our economy works for the wealthiest few — billionaires pay zero dollars in taxes while working class Americans struggle to make ends meet. And too many young adults are unable to start their lives, get ahead, or live comfortably due to the crippling student debt crisis.
Mitch McConnell continues to weaponize the filibuster by preventing debate on crucial pieces of legislation like For the People Act and the bipartisan infrastructure bill. The GOP prefers to undermine our system of checks and balances for the sake of power than allow debate on meaningful reforms.
We must act. We can’t let these crises fester. And we can’t let them grow worse.
We must fight for climate action. Protect voting rights. Provide help to working families. End the student debt crisis. Abolish the filibuster. And expand and defend our Democratic majorities to restore the health of our democracy.
