Friends,

This is a long email, but I don’t want to interrupt your last Saturday in July, so here's the short version if you don’t have time: I just got off a call with my fundraising team, and we still need to raise $1,512 by 11:59 pm to hit our budget target.

I’ll explain why this is so important in a moment, but I need your help ASAP to close this gap. Will you contribute $25 (or whatever works for you) before we run out of time?

Here’s what we’re up against: Right-wing extremists have put Minnesota at the top of their target list heading into 2022.

First, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a close ally of Donald Trump and a major player in spreading the Big Lie, announced he was considering a run for governor.

Then, Scott Jensen, another extremist and such a prolific spreader of COVID-19 misinformation that he has faced bans from social media platforms Facebook and TikTok, announced his bid against us.

Now, we expect Paul Gazelka, who has dedicated his career to advancing discriminatory anti-LGBTQ legislation, constantly tried to undermine my administration’s pandemic response, and refused to hold a single hearing on meaningful criminal justice reform this past session, to jump in any day too.

To be blunt, at every point during challenges we faced over the past 18 months, Minnesota Republicans have proven that they are unable to put politics aside for the good of our state.

As we continue to recover from a public health crisis, face a massive climate crisis, and reckon with the systematic racism that has plagued our state and our country for far too long, Minnesotans cannot afford leaders who relentlessly put their own political ambitions over people.

Three years ago, I kicked off my campaign for governor on a platform called One Minnesota, and that's exactly how I’ve strived to lead during this unprecedented period in our nation’s history.

It took all of us working together, making difficult sacrifices along the way, to get our state firmly on track to emerge from these crises stronger than ever, and we’ve come way too far to go back to Donald Trump’s politics of fear and division now.

If we’re going to make sure Minnesota continues to be a place where we trust science, put people before politics, and govern with empathy, we must stand together to defend our values. And keeping our budget on track is a critical part of that.

That’s why I’m asking once again: Please make a contribution that works for you by 11:59 pm to help us finish strong.

I’m grateful,

Tim Walz
