With two seasoned politicians running against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, the first semiannual reports for the 2022 election cycle offer our first glimpse at how well his campaign is fending off the challengers. The TEC reports reveal that former Texas Supreme Court Justice Eva Guzman and Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush have collectively drawn away 31 donors who previously supported Paxton between 2015 and 2020. While Paxton is impressively well-funded for the campaign trail ahead ([link removed]) , victory appears anything but assured for the incumbent attorney general.
