Friend,
Over 200 days of progress this year. And we're still advancing the priorities of all Americans.
We delivered the American Rescue Plan to help people and businesses recover from the pandemic's economic impact and kickstart our economic recovery. House Democrats have also passed bills to rebuild our transportation and infrastructure, advance and protect voting rights, address the gun violence epidemic and so much more.
Just last week, we passed bills to protect people affected by telecommunications fraud, improve drinking water safety, and fulfill our obligations to our allies who worked alongside our military in Afghanistan.
The House is still working, but we have more work to do. We have to continue delivering real results.
This month, I secured almost $20 million in transportation improvements for my district in Southwest Connecticut in the INVEST in America Act . The bill will reauthorize much-needed transportation and infrastructure projects across the country, including roads, bridges, mass transit, clean water and wastewater infrastructure.

Exactly a year after the economy's worst quarter with the pandemic, our economy grew 1.6% in the second quarter this year, back to pre-pandemic levels. We're still facing challenges with supply chain interruptions and jobs returning, but we are getting back on track. This is the fastest economic growth in the first half of a year in nearly 40 years.
Connecticut's COVID-19 jobs recovery is in line with much of the New England region. Though several things continue to impact job growth, like the lack of widely available childcare and fears of contracting COVID-19, jobs are returning, businesses are recovering and new businesses are opening.
We cannot afford to lose this progress. The pandemic isn't over yet. The Delta variant is different than what we've dealt with previously. It's highly transmissible and causing a new wave of cases in Connecticut and across the country. But we have the power to stop it. Please continue to follow CDC guidelines and recommendations, get vaccinated and stay safe.
We're still in this together.
- Jim
