Prayer Partner Weekly Update

July 31, 2021

"Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice."

- Psalm 112:5

Africa & Europe

Praise God that on Thursday a police officer convicted of murder in Kenya was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In 2015, a man named Moses was fishing with two friends when he was shot by the officer, and the two witnesses were arrested on false charges to keep them quiet. IJM represented the two men to have the charges dropped and represented the victim's family during the prosecution of the police officer.

Latin America

Pray for the safety and security of our staff in El Salvador, especially those that are resuming field operations in dangerous areas. Pray for their health as they are in close contact with public justice system officials each day supporting their work to respond to crimes committed against women and children.

South Asia

Praise God for a recent rescue operation that freed 14 children and teenagers from bonded labor at a plastics factory. They had been trafficked across the country and forced to work 12 or more hours daily making plastic bags or nylon ropes in poor conditions. IJM and a local partner referred the case to local authorities, who immediately took action to free the children and get them to safety. Please pray for their short-term aftercare and for legal follow-up against the trafficker and factory owner who abused them.

Southeast Asia

Please pray for IJM's Forced Labor Slavery Hub in Asia Pacific, that God will continue to lead the team to new cases and allow us to support the rescue of those trapped in exploitation. Continue to pray that victims across the region are protected COVID-19 as they are more vulnerable and have limited access to medical care.

IJM Global

Please pray for our US-based staff as they welcome new colleagues who are joining the team. Praise the Lord for blessing us with these talented individuals!

The updates we share on survivors or their cases can become sensitive over time. To respect and protect them, please refrain from posting these prayer requests online.
