In states across the country the freedom to vote is under attack by extremist lawmakers. State legislators have been on the front lines of the fight to protect our democracy, but they are running out of options, and need Congress to step in and take on this fight.

The For the People Act (S1) must be passed and signed into law before the end of summer in order to go into effect before the 2022 midterms, and to prevent the drawing of hyper-partisan maps that threaten to disenfranchise voters, especially voters of color, for the next decade.

Congress must pass the For the People Act and cannot let anything get in their way, including the filibuster. The Senate cannot leave for congressional recess without passing S1, even if that means delaying recess. Recess can wait - our democracy can’t.

We now have a real chance to pass once-in-a-generation democracy reforms to protect voting rights, limit the power of big money in politics, and ensure fair congressional districts. These reforms would put us on the path to build a democracy that is fair, inclusive, and responsive to the will of voters. We need your help to make this a reality.
