Friends, I hope you’re doing well and enjoying your summer! I won’t take up too much of your time -- but it is that time of the month again where I ask you to support our campaign to help us reach our monthly fundraising goals. But first let me tell you some exciting updates! First, I had the honor of welcoming President Biden to IL-14 to help promote the American Families Plan and the Momnibus. It’s quite rare for a member of Congress to receive this type of invitation from the President, so it was extremely rewarding not only to know that Joe Biden believes in our work, but also to join him as a partner in advocating for the changes our communities desperately need! That same night, I joined The Rachel Maddow Show to bring the discussion of the American Families Plan and Momnibus onto the national stage! I always say that we must focus on doing the work and the recognition will come, so it’s been wonderful to see political leaders taking notice of our work. But folks on the other side of the aisle are taking notice, too. They've made it clear that the only way to win back the House is through my seat. We cannot let that happen. The NRCC still ranks me as one of their top targets -- and the “toss-up” rating from Sabato’s Crystal Ball has them more motivated than ever to try and defeat me. We know attacks on my record of delivering for middle class families could start up again at any moment, so we must have the resources to fight back.
