Dear John,

Let me paint you a picture. It’s Jan. 5, 2021, and Kelly Loeffler was just declared the winner of the special runoff election. Yes, that’s right. She is still one of Georgia’s senators. And Republicans still hold the majority in the U.S. Senate.

There’s no American Rescue Plan. Our economy is collapsing. There are no $1,400 stimulus checks and no expanded child tax credits in the pockets of working Georgia parents. The vaccine rollout is slow, and more Americans could have died as a result.

If it weren’t for you and the Georgia Democrats, that would be our reality.

But you changed everything. You elected the first Black Senator to represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate. When it came down to it, you rejected the radical right-wing agenda and you sent me to Washington, where I’ve been fighting every day for Georgians.

Together, we made history. Now I need you again. I’m up for re-election in 2022 and Republicans are lining up to challenge me.

I won’t let them take this seat back, but it’s not going to be easy.

Georgia Republicans have made it clear they will do ANYTHING to win. That’s why they passed their terrible anti-voting bill that will make it more difficult for Black and brown voters to cast ballots, makes it illegal to give water to those waiting in long lines, and empowers the state legislature to usurp local election boards and subvert the voices of the people.

2022 is going to be an uphill battle. But with your help, we can win!
