If a stripped down reconciliation bill makes it through, and nothing else passes, it means losing our best shot at tackling the climate crisis. It means losing on clean energy. It means losing on environmental justice.

We are talking about millions of new jobs, billions invested in a clean energy economy, and concrete steps to break down systemic inequities and address the harms that the environmental justice movement has been fighting for years. This is now or never.

The public has made it clear: They overwhelmingly support a large-scale recovery package with investments in green technology and infrastructure. Still, our margins in Congress are razor thin. We must push Congress to deliver what their constituents want.

Just over the past few weeks, we have seen the disastrous consequences of ignoring the climate emergency. Wildfires have raged across the west coast, casting smoke as far away as New York City and Washington, DC. Floods swept through New York's subway system, showing just how vulnerable our infrastructure is to climate change. In Detroit, record-breaking floods have led to unprecedented devastation.

We cannot accept these disasters as our new normal. We MUST work to reverse climate change before it's too late.
