Dear John,
Today, we’re celebrating Medicare’s 56th Anniversary! That’s 56 years of providing health insurance to tens of millions of retired Americans and helping to keep older Americans out of poverty. But despite the fact that Medicare continues to be enormously successful and popular, this program remains a target of those in Washington, DC who would rather preserve massive tax breaks for the wealthy than strengthen this critical program that is a vital lifeline for millions of older Americans.
Instead of cutting Medicare or raising the eligibility age, the National Committee is urging lawmakers to pass legislation that would lower prescription drug costs (which would save the program a lot of money!) and use that savings to expand Medicare to cover dental, hearing and vision care — which are essential for healthy aging.
With so much at stake in the immediate weeks ahead, will you do your part to help? We need everyone who has ever fought for Medicare to participate. This fight is too important to sit on the fence!
Any gift, in any amount you can afford to donate, will be greatly appreciated and go to the frontlines of the National Committee’s full-scale battle to protect and strengthen Medicare for another 56 years and beyond.
Sincerely,
|
