Did you catch the headline we shared with you earlier this week, John?
This isn't the first attack on Black folks by Republicans, and it won't be the last. It's no coincidence that Republicans have taken their masks off. From the new Jim Crow-style laws they're enacting, all the way to how they propagate racist ideology, Republicans continue to prove that they do not care about us.
Since Black voters showed up in record numbers to flip Georgia for the first time in nearly 30 years -- plus electing Senator Rev. Raphael Warnock and Senator Jon Ossoff -- Republicans have stopped at nothing to push back against our communities that turned out and made a difference.
It's on us to combat this voter suppression, John. We showed them what we are capable of in 2020, and we'll show them again -- despite all the obstacles they're throwing against us. Chip in to fuel our efforts.
Here are just a handful of voter suppression laws Republicans have since passed since the 2020 elections:
- AL HB 285: A bill that would restrict voting access for those with disabilities
- AL HB 538: A bill that limits access to absentee ballots
- AR HB 1244: A bill that implements stricter voter ID laws
- FL SB 90: A bill that ends 24/7 ballot drop boxes and criminalizes the distribution of food and beverage to voters in line by anyone besides an election official
We may have achieved our goal of getting Trump out of office and ensuring the Republicans didn't win a Senate majority. But now, we must continue this fight at the local, state, and national levels.
John, it's on us to fight against this new era of Jim Crow, against those who are trying to undo decades of our ancestors' work that gave us our right to vote.
Chip in $5 or whatever you can to fight against this new onslaught of voter suppression, and to fight against what is yet to come. Let's band together to back the leaders who want to advance our right to vote >>
