Friend,

There's a famous story about Mitch McConnell from the 1970s. He was teaching a
class at the University of Louisville, and on a blackboard, he wrote down the
three things he felt were necessary for success in politics:

More than 40 years later, we can all see what that ethos has done to our
politics. The Senate, where McConnell is minority leaderm can't even / could
barely come to an agreement on a commonsense, bipartisan infrastructure package.

Why the gridlock? Because big corporate donors and dark money special interests
-- those who benefit from the status quo -- throw their money behind candidates
who will impede progress at any cost.

Dean ran for Congress to challenge the "money, money, money" style of politics.
He doesn't take a dime from PACs, special interest groups, federal lobbyists, or
even other members of Congress -- he counts on donors like you.

So as our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline approaches, we’re humbly asking: Can you chip in to this grassroots campaign right now to show you still have Dean’s back?

Let’s talk a little more about that infrastructure deal. After months of
negotiations, Congress arrived at a bipartisan framework for investments in
America's infrastructure, including roads, bridges, high-speed internet for
rural communities, and eliminating lead pipes from homes and schools. Most
everyone can agree those are commonsense investments, right? But Republicans in
the Senate refused to pass it until the day before they left for August recess.
/ But it has yet to get a vote in the Senate.

Big money has corrupted too many lawmakers. They spend hours every week dialing
for dollars to fund their next campaign. To them, “success in politics” means
“raising money and winning elections” and nothing else.

Dean knows there’s more to success in politics than merely winning. Politics is
about the improvement of people's lives, just like Paul Wellstone used to say.
And that means listening to voters -- not corporations. It means acting boldly
to pass legislation that moves our country forward.

Tomorrow is our official end-of-month fundraising deadline, and it would mean so much if you could chip in to this campaign before then. If you can, please rush a donation right now to show you stand with Dean and a different style of politics.

Thanks,

The DeanTeam
