John,
When I think of my next election in 2022, two words come to mind: competitive and expensive.
Even though we’re months away, we’re already facing some challenges: Democrats are barely holding onto a majority in the House. Redistricting will likely result in a new constituent base, which requires introducing me to new voters. The Republican base here in Orange County is energized after their 2020 Congressional successes—and are ready to go for more in 2022.
And, of course, there’s the likelihood of a well-funded challenger from the Republican Party, who have identified me as a top target to unseat to take back the House.
Thankfully, I know what our team is capable of. In 2018 and in 2020, we showed up ready to fight and win. And because of your support, I’ve been able to continue to be your advocate in Congress—to stand for the American people and fight for working families.
But we’re not going to be able to win again in 2022 if we just sit around and wait. That’s why I’m asking for your help to hit our end-of-month fundraising goal of $125,000 today, especially before our critical deadline—which is tomorrow at midnight.

Right now, it’s essential for our campaign to fundraise and make long-term investments in organizing our communities, advertising our message, registering new voters, and fending off any future challengers. That’s where the $125,000 figure comes into play; if we don’t reach that number, we may need to scale back on what we need to do in order to remain competitive.
Voter outreach is so important, because the reality is that my district is one of the most vulnerable districts a Democrat could be in. Orange County is still considered a “purple” political climate.
And no matter the color or the party lines, I’m still going to continue calling out the B.S. and advocating for issues that affect all working families. You can always count on me to do that.
But the GOP is already mobilizing their supporters to help flip this seat next year. The NRCC outraised the DCCC last quarter by $9 million. It’s clearer than ever that if we don’t act now, our fight in 2022 is going to be that much harder.
Thank you for your constant support,
Katie
