That’s why Free Speech For People is confronting disinformation and defending our democracy across the country: - Holding social media companies accountable: Free Speech For People has introduced the Digital Accountability Act, a uniquely bold and comprehensive proposal to hold social media companies accountable for amplifying disinformation and violence through their online platforms. The legislation takes direct aim at the spread of false information and threats of violence online which preceded the insurrection at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and which has also served as a key instigating factor in other instances of violence worldwide.
- Barring insurrectionists from the ballot: Free Speech For People has launched the 14point3 Campaign, making clear to Secretaries of State and election officials across the country that they must abide by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution and bar insurrectionists involved in the January 6th Capitol riot, including President Trump, from appearing on any future ballots.
- Challenging Unlawful Corporate Influence of Federal Voting System Standards: Free Speech For People filed a federal lawsuit alleging the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) met with voting machine manufacturers privately to unlawfully solicit vendors’ comments on the federal voting system standards, and that these meetings led to weakening the standards to allow internet connectivity in voting systems.
