HERE ARE 5 FACTS YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT CHILD TRAFFICKING:
① You’ll often hear about trafficking “hotspots,” but the truth is that trafficking occurs wherever there are people. Spikes in reported trafficking may also be influenced by an increased focus in that region on research, training, or an awareness campaign promoting the national hotline.
② Traffickers don't fit one stereotype. Love146 has connected with situations of trafficking in which exploiters have been family members, peers, romantic partners, educators, employers, community leaders, and clergy.
③Children from culturally and linguistically diverse communities are more than 2x as likely to experience sex trafficking as children who identified as white. (JAMA)

This year, the UN's theme for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is about listening to and learning from survivors of human trafficking. Learning from victims’ experiences and turning their suggestions into concrete actions will lead to a more victim-centered and effective approach in combating human trafficking.
