The effects from the COVID-19 pandemic are still prevalent in our communities -- especially those with a smaller population size. Here in NY-19, public health care workers, teachers, and other vital essential workers have struggled to stay afloat -- that’s one of the many reasons why I worked to help pass the American Rescue Plan, which includes my funding formula from the Direct Support for Communities Act.
Some of the first COVID relief bills passed left out smaller and rural towns from funding. My funding formula allows for communities to have direct access to federal funding despite population size.
