As the Finance Director for the Democratic Attorneys General Association, it’s my job to bring in the dollars that support our superstar AGs. But it’s also my responsibility to help make sure we’re spending those dollars wisely.
And sometimes that’s a challenge, team. In the Trump years, it felt like there was a new crisis every 12 hours – another fight always on the horizon, and a new pull on our attention cropping up every day.
Even though things are different without Trump, our work is no less urgent. But it’s far more hopeful.
I want to focus on a handful of races today that are so important for us to have a strong showing in this year and next. This grassroots machine (that’s you, team) is critically important to that effort, and I want you to know where your dollars are going:
Virginia: In Virginia, we’re fighting back pro-Trump extremist, Jason Miyares, in the race for state AG. Miyares is the definition of Trumpism in 2021, and the Democratic incumbent, AG Mark Herring, is a progressive champion.
Georgia: We lost this race in 2018 by just 3%, so this seat is definitely winnable. And we have to win it. The incumbent, GOP AG Chris Carr, is another Trump loyalist and was the chair of the Republican Attorneys General Association when they paid for robocalls urging supporters to march on the Capitol on January 6th.
Texas: The saga of the current Republican AG is long, but the bottom line is this: We have to get a Democrat in this seat and get indicted Republican AG Paxton out of there. The people of Texas deserve far better, and Democrats have a real opportunity to get a foothold in the Lone Star state with the state AG seat.
These are just a few of the states I’m watching while I scrutinize our balance sheets this year. But rest assured there are many more, each one just as important as the last. But we’re lucky, because we have this grassroots team behind us.

Democratic AGs truly are “The People’s Lawyers” and DAGA is the only party committee devoted to electing more of them. Since 2016, we’ve won two-thirds of our targeted races, and with more than 30 AG seats up for grabs in the next two years, we need your support – will you chip in today?
