John -- ICYMI: In a couple of weeks, the Census Bureau will release critical redistricting data that’ll shift us into the next phase of the map drawing process. Every state will be redrawing its district lines.

A.G. Holder warned us about map manipulator intentions on Chris Hayes’ show this month: “They understand that they [have] got to keep their thumb on the scale. They have to have...an ability to impact the redistricting process in an unfair way if they are going to hold on to the power that they got illegitimate[ly] in 2011."

The All On The Line team set an end-of-month deadline of raising $25,000 by midnight on Saturday to prepare for this onslaught of map drawing schemes.

Gerrymandering guarantees undemocratic elections. If we end up with another decade of gerrymandered maps, politicians will have little incentive to work across party lines because voters won’t be able to hold them accountable at the ballot box.

We can’t accept another decade of legislative gridlock. We can’t accept paralyzed governments that refuse to enact popular reforms on issues such as climate change and health care.
