I am pleased to announce that a comprehensive agreement has been reached between the Federation and the Broadway League for working conditions and health and safety protocols covering musicians engaged to perform Pamphlet B and Short Engagement Tours.
The agreement was finished late Wednesday night as Wicked, the first touring Broadway production to return to the road, is set to resume performances on August 3 in Dallas following a 17-month pandemic hiatus interruption. Twenty Broadway roadshows are scheduled to tour beginning late summer. Absent renewed governmental pandemic restrictions, the shows will remain on the road through next year.
Reopening the touring Broadway productions and our members’ return to work under achievable health and safety guidelines that minimize the risk of COVID transmission during the tours are important priorities. The theater-going public is thirsting to see, hear, and be entertained by great live theatrical musical performances. AFM members performing these shows are the finest musicians in the world. They will help quench that thirst.
In Unity,
Ray Hair
AFM International President
