Wireless Charging of Electric Taxi Trial takes next steps
Wicet

Our ground breaking wireless charging for electric taxis (WiCET) project is progressing at pace as we head into summer. Two ground pads to enable wireless charging have been installed at the Eastcroft Depot and were recently switched on, charging at speeds of over 10kw/h.

The pads will be accessed by converted LEVC and Dynamo electric taxis to allow for testing of the infrastructure ahead of expansion of the system into a local taxi rank. Frequency of charging is one of the most common questions drivers need to consider.

Whilst there are now 17 rapid charge points installed around the city which are dedicated to local drivers, wireless charging technology within taxi ranks will give the trade convenient charging. The project is the UK?s only demonstration of wireless charging technologies for taxis and we?re proud to be the home of the practical testing.

Up to nine vehicles will be converted with wireless charging technology and these will be offered to local drivers to trial in the coming months. Trials will commence in August with local drivers issued with vehicles from the Nottingham Electric Vehicle Services [ [link removed] ] ?centre at the depot.

Half a million e-scooter rides in Nottingham
Escooter

The yellow electric scooters of Wind Mobility, the official partner of Nottingham City Council for the e-scooter trial programme, have been used for more than 500,000 rides since the launch of the trial last October, making it one of the most popular trials in the UK.

Currently, 600 e-scooters are deployed within the boundaries of Nottingham City Council and, with Covid-19 restrictions easing and warmer weather, Wind has seen a significant increase in rides.

More electric vans on offer to local businesses
EVE

Our Electric Van Experience just got even better - we now have nine Toyota Proace Electric vans available to try!

Businesses and organisations can trial an electric van for a month, to see how converting to a greener fleet could be better for them financially, and for the environment. Funded by?Highways England, the ?2.69m project offers a range of vans to suit different needs.

The vans have been bought through the council?s ULEV procurement framework and will be maintained by?Nottingham Electric Vehicle Services (NEVS), the council's exclusively ULEV service centre, where all electric vehicle owners can also get MOTs, servicing and repairs.
