We know the next election is still a ways off, but this whole idea that
you only need to campaign in an election year is one reason why Democrats
have fallen short. We cannot organize, phone bank, host community events,
and share important conversations with our neighbors only when it’s time
to vote.

History shows us that organizing 365 days a year is what it takes to make
big, systemic change. That’s why we’re investing in keeping organizing
staff on the ground, continuing volunteer work year-round, and building
momentum for our progressive movement across the country, and why we need
to fundraise all year round to support our ongoing work.

Your support is the reason why our movement has grown to where it is
today, and we couldn’t be more grateful. But we can’t slow down
now. Based
on our average gift, we need 7,500 contributions to make up our
fundraising gap for July and have the resources we need to carry out our
plans (which you can read about below).

[ [link removed] ]We wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important. Can you please rush a
donation of $16.61 (our
average gift this month) to power the one-to-one
organizing that grows our progressive movement?

Here are some of the ways that AOC, you, and our movement are organizing
to build progressive power nationwide:

* Last week, we launched in-person canvasses to talk to community
members about the Green New Deal and the proposed fracked gas power
plant in our district. Each week, we recruit and train canvassers to
have deep, meaningful conversations with potential voters to clear up
misconceptions and find common ground. So far we’ve already knocked on
250 doors!
* Last weekend, Alexandria traveled to Ohio to knock on doors and get
out the vote for Nina Turner, a progressive champion running for
Congress.
* Alexandria was recently appointed to the new Select Committee on
Economic Disparity & Fairness in Growth which aims to address wealth
inequality in our nation. She’ll be in charge of tackling generational
disparities and increasing worker power in the economy.
* Alexandria is working with her progressive colleagues in the House to
withhold their votes on the bipartisan infrastructure bill unless a
budget bill that includes climate measures, child care, and
immigration reform passes at the same time.
* Through our Homework Helpers tutoring program, our team has trained
and connected tutors with over 400 families to support students who
need extra help, especially during the transition to remote learning.

None of this work would be possible without your support. Your continued
involvement is critical to growing our programs and implementing our
progressive agenda. Right now, we’re hoping to collect 7,500 more
donations to make up our fundraising gap so we can continue funding this
ambitious work.

[ [link removed] ]If you’re able to, please chip in today and be one of the 7,500 people
we need to hit our July fundraising goal.

In solidarity,

Team AOC
