I just spoke with my finance director Annie, and she let me know we’re behind on meeting this month’s fundraising goal. In the final days of July, will you help us make up this fundraising gap by rushing a small-dollar donation now?

Just because we’re not where we need to be right now does not mean we can’t get back on track and meet our goal. Every step of this grassroots campaign so far has demonstrated that our team is made up of motivated people committed to our progressive vision, and I know we can meet the moment.

Building a movement for real change may sound like a long-shot, but the truth is my whole life has been a long-shot. I lost my parents at a young age and got in trouble so often that I was kicked out of school. But thanks to people investing in me and seeing my potential, I got through these difficult times and found my true passion — helping others through education.

Now, I have an opportunity to continue to make a difference by serving as Maryland’s next governor. I know that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and given a chance to reach their full potential — like I was as a young man — and I will fight for this to become a reality for all Marylanders.
