After yesterday's Senate vote, we are closer than ever to passing a major infrastructure bill that will fix our bridges and roads, invest in more rail and public transit, improve our waterways, expand broadband access, and create millions of good-paying jobs.

A lot of work remains to be done, and I'll be fighting hard in the House to ensure that the final package Congress passes contains strong climate provisions and programs to help working families. But one thing is clear: progress is possible now, and it's because of the Democratic majority that we fought so hard to win.

Our majority is incredibly narrow -- had Republicans won just five more house seats last November, this opportunity on infrastructure would not exist. And if they retake the House next year, we'll see nothing but painful gridlock and a Congress unwilling to address future challenges.
