John -- Earlier today Rep. Raskin and the Texas Democrats held a hearing on the sweeping Texas voter suppression bill.

Republicans used the hearing to act foolishly and mock our democracy.

However, instead of focusing on the obvious lies from the Republican members, we want to highlight what the Texas legislators said in the hearing:

Texas State Rep. Senfronia Thompson: “I left Texas to give my people a right to be able to vote without them being infringed upon.”

Texas State Rep. Diego Bernal: “We have not had a substantive debate at large about [HB3], because when we do, people see that we’re right.”

House Rep. Lizzie Fletcher: “These bills are being written across the country一this is a national issue. And what’s happening in Texas is really a cautionary tale.”

The warning signs could not be more clear. We must keep fighting for voting rights. The best way to protect our democracy is by making sure we hold racist legislators accountable and elect more voting rights advocates. Can you chip in $25 to support our voter contact program to do just that?
