Friend,
I believe that you -- like all Americans -- have a right to safe, affordable, and liveable housing. But that’s not a reality for too many people in New York and around the country. We are facing a housing crisis, and we desperately need bold solutions to fix it.
That’s why Senator Schumer and I are calling on President Biden to invest $80 billion in federal funding for public housing to eliminate the capital repair needs of NYCHA and all public housing authorities nationwide.
When I toured Red Hook Houses, residents told me about needing an umbrella in their apartments and living with a plumbing stoppage for over a month. It’s unacceptable -- and proper funding is the first step to addressing it.
Public housing is infrastructure -- and a priority. It's time to fund it.
In solidarity,
Nydia
