** The Story
------------------------------------------------------------
Senator Elizabeth Warren is under fire for questionable claims of pregnancy discrimination ([link removed]) in the past. On the campaign trail, she said “back in the day, the principal did what principals did” in firing her for being with child, but other evidence has surfaced that contradicts her tale.

** In Short

Doing damage control, Vogue helps explain away ([link removed]) what could be a problematic issue for presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren going into 2020 in an article titled, "If You Think Elizabeth Warren Is Lying, You’ve Never Been a Woman in the Workplace."

** HOW TO TALK ABOUT
FEMALE GENITAL MUTILATION ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
* The World Health Organization defines female genital mutilation (FGM) as the partial or total removal of the female external genitalia for nonmedical reasons, which they detail has no health benefits.
* In fact, FGM results in lasting physical injury and can even result in the death of the girls and women who undergo the procedure.
* While FGM is most common in Africa, the Middle East and Asia—where a jaw dropping 200 million girls and women have undergone the procedure—young women around the globe are at risk.
* According to 2012 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 513,000 ([link removed]) women and girls in the U.S. have experienced or are at risk of mutilation.
* There are still 15 states ([link removed]) that lack laws against FGM.
* Currently the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) does not address female genital mutilation.

** WHAT YOU CAN DO ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------

** To stop female genital mutilation in the US. ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Urge Congress to make funding available through VAWA for those organizations doing the important work of raising awareness about FGM. VAWA should also provide model legislation to those states that do not have laws currently against FGM.

** Cancel Culture Comes for Facebook After Mark Zuckerberg Dines With Conservatives ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Twitter censorship gangs sent #DeleteFacebook trending ([link removed]) this weekend after reports surfaced that founder Mark Zuckerberg met with conservatives and listened to their concerns about real and perceived bias against conservatives, censorship of conservative views, and other issues. As Ellen DeGeneres ([link removed]) recently said, it’s okay to have friends who don’t think the same way you do.

** Roundtable CEOs Get a Letter from Elizabeth Warren ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
Warren is now demanding ([link removed]) that the Roundtable CEOs prove that they are willing to redefine corporations. According to the Wall Street Journal, "Her goal is to redirect corporate capital ([link removed]) to serve political goals favored by unions, environmentalists and trial lawyers. The CEOs no doubt want to get out in front of this by showing what splendid corporate citizens they are."

** AOC: Abolish Prisons ([link removed])
------------------------------------------------------------
The major fault is that Ocasio-Cortez seems to not understand that, while there are miscarriages of justice, the reason people are put in prisons is that they have done something wrong ([link removed]) . Abolishing prisons would release lawbreakers, many of whom are violent, who have not paid their debt to society back into society. In AOC’s view, these are not people who have done something wrong but rather are oppressed people.
