I'm checking back in because we're significantly short of our July fundraising goal and our deadline at midnight on Saturday is quickly approaching. Let me tell you why making a donation to this campaign right now is so important.
Last month, we launched this campaign with enough momentum for the National Journal to quickly deem Kara the “frontrunner” to replace Lee Zeldin. This is an incredible start, but we can't take our early success for granted: Just yesterday, our first Republican opponent filed their candidacy in this race.
There's no question we're up against some skepticism in this race. “This district is too red” or “How will this year be any different?” we've heard it all before... But my answer to all of this? You should meet Kara.
The first time I met Kara, I was immediately blown away by her determination to make a difference in people's lives. Kara got her degree in social work, taking on student loans and scraping to get by as a single mom, all because she wanted to help people.
She spent years and hardwon political capital to provide survivors of domestic violence with real security and has done more to combat the opioid crisis in her community and save lives from being cut short than most.
Kara Hahn is a special person. Her grit and love for our community is bottomless -- that's why I know we're going to prove the naysayers wrong and flip this seat.
